The Centre for Psychotherapy is a specialist adult outpatient psychotherapy service treating Borderline Personality Disorder and Eating Disorders. We are part of the Hunter New England Local Health District. For ED clients - after a referral has been made by a GP or other healthcare provider, an invitation is made for the person to meet with someone from our team for an assessment. The assessment aims to explore the eating problem and how to best provide support. The Centre for Psychotherapy uses a ‘shared care’ approach, where people are asked to meet regularly with a psychotherapist, have access to a dietitian and also need to see a GP so that physical wellbeing can be monitored. The service is free of charge.
