Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Eating Disorders Inpatient Program
The Peter Beumont Unit is a nine-bed inpatient unit dedicated to the treatment of people with eating disorders. The inpatient program is focused on medical stabilisation, symptom containment, nutritional rehabilitation, supported meal therapy, psychological therapy and functional recovery delivered in both individual and group modalities. Services are evidence-based and delivered by a dedicated multidisciplinary team including Consultant Psychiatrists, Psychiatry Registrar, Nurses, Dietitians, Occupational Therapists, Clinical Psychologists and Social Workers. As this is a gazetted unit there is capcity to admit both voluntary and involuntary patients. The unit accepts referrals state-wide. Please note there is a waiting list to access this unit, with decisions on priority based on clinical need.
