Addressing Eating Disorders in Primary Care - Bega
About this event
The National Eating Disorders Collaboration (NEDC) and COORDINARE - South Eastern NSW PHN invite medical and health professionals to a FREE education evening on eating disorders including screening and assessment, management and treatment, supporting patient and carers, recovery and essential elements of care, referral pathways, support services and NEDC and other resources.
Eating disorders affect approximately 9% of Australians, have one of the highest mortality rates of any mental illness, and require a multidisciplinary approach. When armed with the right information, screening and referral tools, GPs, psychologists, dietitians, and primary care professionals play an important role in early identification and supporting recovery.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
• Identify clinical presentations where further screening and assessment for eating disorders is warranted
• Recognise and implement evidence based strategies in the prevention, early identification and management of eating disorders
• Explain essential elements of care and implement multidisciplinary strategies to improve client health outcomes
• Identify and integrate referral pathways and specialised support services into practice
