Coping with crisis: Supporting your loved one with a crisis plan
Eating Disorders Victoria (EDV)
About this event
This Well Together webinar is suitable for anyone caring for or supporting a loved one who is experiencing an eating disorder. This includes parents, partners, siblings, friends and significant others. We also welcome those of you who are currently experiencing an eating disorder.
This event is free, thanks to the support of the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services.
This webinar will focus on how carers can support and collaborate with their loved one to develop a crisis plan. A mental health crisis occurs when a person experiences a stressful event or situation that impacts their ability to cope and function in daily life, and are in need of increased/urgent support. A mental health crisis can be experienced by anyone with or without mental illness, including people with eating disorders.
Planning for a crisis may help to prevent or reduce the impact of potential crises for your loved one, and may help to support you as a carer during these times. We will walk through an example of a crisis plan and step through each aspect of what could be included. This includes identifying the signs that your loved one is well and what they do to stay well, signs that they are not doing so well or are in need of urgent support and what actions could be taken to support them during these times.
