About this event

This three-day online interactive workshop is designed to help you build confidence in identifying, assessing, diagnosing and implementing effective treatment with clients with eating disorders in private practice.

It has been developed and is facilitated by Dr Sarah Egan and Dr Amanda Bolton, active treating senior clinicians for clinicians with real world experience of the complexities of working with this client group in the private practice framework. It integrates an introduction to the eating disorders as well as comprising two days of treatment specific training.

No eating disorder pre-requisite training required. You will not only learn the CBT-E model but how to effectively integrate family work and other practical strategies to ensure you have the tools required to help clients successfully commence and progress through treatment. • ED specific assessment and diagnostic skills
  • How to establish and work within ED specific care teams in private practice
  • How to work within a Health At Every Size (HAES®) framework to benefit your clients
  • What to look for and how to manage risks with this specific population
  • How to work within the Medicare system with this population How to tailor the treatment to the individual’s unique formulation using a CBT-E approach
  • How to use the CBT-E model to treat your client's ED with focus on Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, OSFED, and Binge Eating Disorder
  • How to integrate specific strategies that work for clients with EDs that are not in the CBT-E manuals or pure manual-based training
  • How to effectively draw on family systems to influence change
  • How to skill up carers to achieve best outcomes for clients
  • How to adapt treatment for older adolescents and young adults with EDs
  • How to effectively treat the eating and non-eating sides of the ED using the CBT-E model

The training is live and interactive, involving:

  • Take-home resources and handouts
  • Opportunities to practice skills learned
