About this event
Orthorexia and ARFID are serious biopsychosocial mental illnesses and are generally not as well understood as other eating disorders.
In this education webinar, Dr Sarah McMahon will explore such topics as:
- What constitutes the diagnosis of orthorexia/ARFID
- How orthorexia and ARFID are different and similar in presentation/symptoms
- How orthorexia and ARFID are different and similar to other eating disorders
- What traits and environmental circumstances may make people more susceptible to ARFID and orthorexia
- What treatments work best for orthorexia and ARFID
- How carers might assist in recognising the disorders, avoid coercing with the illness, managing family/friends that may inadvertently praise the behaviours and how they may support recovery
Sarah is a psychologist and Director of BodyMatters Australia. She has worked in the field of eating disorders for approximately 15 years.
The presentation will include 30 minutes of Q&A’s with Dr McMahon and the audience.
