Compassion Focused Therapy for Eating Disorders and Trauma
Compassion Focused Therapy for Eating Disorders and Trauma
Eating Disorders Families Australia (EDFA)
About this event
Hear Inge Gnatt, provisional psychologist and PhD candidate, talk about the benefits and outcomes of compassion focused therapy for eating disorders and trauma, including practical tools and resources, and how we as caregivers can support this treatment most effectively.
People suffering from an eating disorder generally experience high levels of self-criticism, self-directed hostility, and shame. Furthermore, these individuals tend to have difficulty producing and activating self-soothing emotions.
Compassion focused therapy for eating disorders and trauma addresses these issues, and is designed to incorporate the development and practice of compassion for self and others into standard eating disorder treatment.
The presentation will include a 30 minute Q&A with Inge and the audience.
For EDFA members only. Membership is $25. Membership gives access to monthly state-based strive carer support groups, twice monthly education sessions and more.
