This two-day workshop will provide an overview of evidence-informed dietetic treatment for people with eating disorders across the lifespan. Content is based on current management guidelines, published literature, clinical consensus, consumer input, and will be delivered by experienced clinicians. This course is only suitable for Accredited Practicing Dietitians (APD).
It is open to all dietitians (APD) with an interest in upskilling in ED-specific dietetic intervention, and suitable for dietitians working in the hospital, community health and private sectors.
Note for dietitians who wish to pursue ANZAED ED Credentialing: this training has been designed to meet requirements for ANZAED ED Credentialing, to the level of evidence-informed dietetic practice, if all additional requirements listed below are met (see ANZAED ED Credentialing requirements section below).
Places are strictly limited; please book early. Please ensure you have line manager approval and availability to attend before enrolling.
To receive a certificate of completion, attendees will be required to:
- attend both days in full, and in person
- sign in, and out, each day
- complete, anonymous, pre and post surveys (in session via your smart phone/device).
Learning Objectives for this workshop include the following ED-specific knowledge/skills:
- Ability to conduct an ED-specific nutritional assessment of children/adults
- Understanding of the stepped system of care for people with EDs
- Knowledge of current dietetic and clinical practices, and standards
- Ability to conduct nutritional diagnoses and implement nutritional intervention, with consideration of medical complexities and diverse client groups
- Ability to provide flexible, collaborative, client-focused care adapted to suit the client’s needs and concurrent evidence-based psychological therapy
- Build empathy, understanding and ability to engage people with EDs, and their families/significant others/key supports
- Build understanding of referral processes which address the client’s physical, psychological, and nutritional needs
- Ability to both recognise warning signs and act to mitigate increased risk
- Demonstrate knowledge of ANZAED clinical practice and training standards for dietitians
ANZAED ED Credential requirements
This course has been developed to align with the NEDC Core Competencies and the ANZAED Practice & Training Standards for Dietitians Providing Eating Disorder Treatment. It is currently undergoing review with goal of NEDC approval prior to delivery, which will allow ‘proof of completion’ to be used in your application for the ANZAED ED Credential.
Attendees who wish to use this workshop as evidence to apply for the ANZAED ED credential (ANZAED NEDC Credentialing | ANZAED) will need to meet the following requirements:
- Online pre-learning is required – ‘certificate of completion’ will need to be provided in application for credential

Option 2 The Essentials: Training Clinicians in Eating Disorders (insideoutinstitute.org.au) - Attendance at this QuEDS workshop for entirety of both days of training – proof of completion will be a certificate will be provided to those participants who sign on, and sign off attendance sheets at start (8:00am) and end (4:30pm) of each day
- Application for ANZAED ED Credential is to be completed by applicant and will NOT be facilitated by QuEDS
