NEDC'S PHN Eating Disorders Quality Improvement (ED-QI) Tool
The National Eating Disorders Collaboration (NEDC), alongside PHN leaders and eating disorder experts, have developed a user-friendly, online tool for PHNs. Based on the National Practice Standards for eating disorders and tailored specifically to the PHN context, the Eating Disorders Quality Improvement Tool guides PHNs through the process of building on their eating disorders response.
Within the tool, there are 20 actions across 4 functional areas:
- Operational Resources and Planning - Five actions that focus on the PHN's processes for identifying and addressing needs through data collation, documentation, and human resources.
- Awareness Raising and Information Provision - Six actions that focus on the PHN's strategies that support access to evidence-based eating disorders information for health professionals and consumers.
- Primary Care Quality Improvement - Six actions that focus on the PHN's strategies for capacity building of the primary health workforce including access to resources and professional development.
- Service Integration and Coordination - Three actions that focus on the PHN's processes for connecting services, health professionals and consumers within the system of care, and its use of standards to inform these activities.
A pilot of the online tool commenced in October 2020. It is anticipated that the tool will be available to all PHNs in August 2021.
NEDC recommends that your PHN complete the ED-QI every six months.
Consultation and support are available to your PHN for implementing any of the suggested steps outlined in the personalised report available to download upon completing the ED-QI.
