About this event

For professionals working with young people

This introductory session provides an overview of the risk and protective factors for and signs and symptoms of eating disorders.  It gives advice on approaching young people you may be concerned about and explains how to support the recovery of a young person with an eating disorder.

Format: 2hr live webinar hosted by Zoom 5.0 (no recording)

Suitable for: Teachers, youth workers and community professionals working with young people.

Please note: This is not aimed at clinicians nor does it offer advice on case management. There is some overlap in content with Butterfly's Body Esteem Educator Training.

You will explore:

The spectrum of behaviours from healthy to unhealthy to clinical eating disorders
-  Diet culture and disordered eating
-  Risk and protective factors for eating disorders
-  Warning signs and the importance of early intervention
-  Supporting treatment and recovery
-  Educating abut eating disorders and supporting peers
-  Creating a supportive environment and evidence based approaches to prevention

Please note there is a degree of overlap with the Body Esteem Educator Training.  You may wish to choose to do one or the other, rather than both.
