FBT Information Session
FBT Information Session
Centre for Integrative Health
About this event
Family Based Therapy (FBT) is recognised as the first-line treatment for young people with an eating disorder. The early stages of FBT work to place the responsibility of food and eating in the hands of the young person’s loved ones to give them support during meal times.
Many parents and carers have various questions and concerns about eating disorders and FBT, and may feel that they do not have all the answers they need.
This workshop was developed to support parents and carers beginning the journey of eating disorder treatment, and to provide individuals with the opportunity to connect with others who are experiencing the same.
As such, this in-person workshop aims to provide:
- An overview of how FBT is administered at Centre for Integrative Health,
- An overview of eating disorders and the role that family members play in the recovery from eating disorders
- Information related to expected body weights and what this means,
- Information to support attendees to set up medical monitoring with a General Practitioner,
- A safe space for questions to be asked relating to treatment.
This face-to-face workshop will involve didactic and interactive learning opportunities.
