This workshop will provide an overview of SSCM, a pragmatic, evidence-based outpatient treatment for
adults with Anorexia Nervosa that allows clinicians to flexibly address broader client goals as well as
manage eating disorder behaviours. Two therapeutic components, clinical management and supportive
psychotherapy, will be described to equip general mental health clinicians apply their existing skills to:
✓ Build a positive therapeutic alliance to promote adherence and retention in treatment
✓ Prioritise restoration of weight, eating patterns & physical health
✓ Provide targeted education and advice about food, eating, and weight or shape concerns
✓ Respond to other recovery goals and important life issues identified by the individual
Open to mental health clinicians who work with adults affected by eating disorders in the community.
Outpatient therapists and case managers with varying degrees of experience are welcome.
