This Information Sheet was developed by Eating Disorders Neurodiversity Australia.

Neurodivergent individuals are at an increased risk of several medical and mental health illnesses, meaning that it is likely that they engage with general practitioners on a regular basis. Given neurodivergent people’s high risk of experiencing feeding difficulties and developing eating disorders, general practitioners have an essential role to play in both prevention and treatment. This document provides key considerations to assist general practitioners in being better equipped to provide neurodiversity- affirming eating disorder care for their neurodivergent patients.

Please note that it is assumed that general practitioners using this document already possess the qualifications, knowledge, training, and professional development profile to meet minimum standards in line with the ANZAED practice standards
