Assessment of Eating Disorders

Assessment of Eating Disorders

About this event

Professor Tracey Wade presents 6 hours of LIVE in-person online training on Assessment of Eating Disorders: the art and the science (September) | Zoom

DATE: 9 September 2025

TIME: 9:00am - 4:00pm (AEDT)

SUMMARY: Assessment of eating disorders is an important component of the treatment process, which can kick start change, increase engagement in treatment, and help people get more out of treatment. This workshop will step through a semi-structured assessment guide, as well as more structured approaches to assessment, including the MINI and Eating Disorder Examination. Integration of motivational enhancement skills throughout the process will be detailed. The evidence related to linking assessment to better treatment outcomes will be outlined, and the use of single session interventions to achieve this while people are waiting for treatment will be discussed. The use and role of screening will also be explored. The workshop will use a mix of didactic presentation and interactive exercises to promote learning, and links to resources will be provided.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

Participants will be able to:
1. Achieve an informed overview of the different assessment strategies for eating disorders.
2. Increased competency to integrate motivational enhancement skills into an assessment.
3. Understand how to use single session interventions that can impact subsequent treatment.
