The NEDC Steering Committee brings together leaders in the eating disorders field across Australia with a wide range of lived experience, clinical and academic perspectives. This committed group of leaders is the core of NEDC’s success as a collaboration leading national initiatives which build the system of care.

Professor Phillipa Hay holds the position of Steering Committee Chair, and Belinda Caldwell Deputy Chair. 

The Steering Committee is an advisory body for NEDC projects and directions. The Steering Committee provides strategic advice to NEDC regarding its work, with a focus on the implementation of the National Eating Disorders Strategy and sector collaboration. The Committee advises NEDC on opportunities to impact on systems across Australia through the implementation of the National Strategy, potential risks to NEDC’s work, and supports NEDC to deliver projects and initiatives that are likely to make a meaningful contribution to the system of care.

Membership 

The Steering Committee includes people with acknowledged expertise in each of the areas relevant to the collaboration. This includes people with lived experience of an eating disorder, people with lived experience of caring for someone with an eating disorder, clinicians, and leading researchers in the sector. 

Members are invited to join the Steering Committee by either the Steering Committee Chair or the National Director. 

Members are be appointed on a fixed-term two-year basis. Members may be invited to extend for a maximum of three terms. 

Membership of the NEDC Steering Committee is capped at 25 members at any given time.
