Inge Gnatt presents 6 hours of LIVE in-person online training in the Compassion-Focused Therapy for Eating Disorders: Supporting Recovery Through Compassionate Engagement (September) |

Online via Zoom

DATE: 11 September 2025

TIME: 10:00am - 5:00pm (AEST)

SUMMARY: This workshop presents some of the ways in which Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) can be used to support individuals struggling with eating disorders, including those with trauma-related symptoms. We will explore how CFT integrates with standard treatment approaches and consider the delivery of CFT in individual, group, online, and in-person contexts.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

Participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the theoretical foundations of Compassion-Focused Therapy and explain its relevance to eating and body image concerns, including in the context of trauma.
  2. Formulate eating disorder presentations using a CFT lens, identifying the roles of shame, self-criticism, and emotion regulation difficulties.
  3. Apply compassion-focused strategies across a range of treatment settings, including individual, group, face-to-face, and online formats.

PRESENTER: Inge is a Lecturer based at Swinburne University of Technology, and Clinical Psychology Registrar working in private practice in Melbourne. Inge’s research, teaching and clinical work is strongly focused on supporting individuals experiencing eating disorders and body image concerns.
