Body Image Training: A Practical Guide for Clinicians Supporting Body Image (Online Workshop)

Body Image Training: A Practical Guide for Clinicians Supporting Body Image (Online Workshop)

About this event

In this online and self directed 1 day workshop (or day 1 of 2 available trainings - day 2 also available live) you will learn to work with a comprehensive and personalised visual metaphor that simplifies the multifaceted contributors to body dissatisfaction. This framework is applicable to all clients experiencing body image concerns, whether or not they have an eating disorder. You’ll be guided to use this tool collaboratively with clients to implement meaningful change, drawing on evidence-based strategies delivered in a trauma-informed and weight-neutral way. You’ll also build your own repertoire of experiential skills for delivering body image work and grow your confidence in tailoring support to meet each client’s needs.

Learning outcomes

In Day 1, you will learn how to:

  • Develop a personalised visual metaphor that simplifies the complex individual, social, and cultural factors contributing to body dissatisfaction
  • Understand the different body image goals and philosophies, and feel more confident in helping clients choose strategies that aligns with their unique needs and preferences
  • Use pragmatic, evidence-informed strategies that target the present-day factors maintaining body dissatisfaction

Dr Sarah Egan and Dr Amanda Bolton bring deep experience to this space, not only in working to improve body image for people with diverse bodies, neurotypes, and lived experiences, but also in delivering highly engaging, practical, and memorable clinician training.
