Maudsley Anorexia Nervosa Treatment for Adults (MANTRA)
Maudsley Anorexia Nervosa Treatment for Adults (MANTRA)
About this event
The two-day workshop will provide a practical and experiential introduction to the provision of Maudsley Anorexia Nervosa Treatment for Adults (MANTRA). MANTRA is a structured and individual psychotherapy model that comprises 20-40 sessions specific to the treatment of Anorexia Nervosa. MANTRA emphasises an individualised client formulation and the identification of cognitive, emotional, relational, and biological processes that perpetuate the eating disorder.
MANTRA is recommended as a first-line treatment for Anorexia Nervosa as per the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE, 2017), and is one of only four treatments approved in Australia, under the Eating Disorder Treatment and Management Plan initiative, for the treatment of Anorexia Nervosa in adults
The in-person workshop will comprise a mixed training format of didactic, interactive, and experiential approaches to demonstrate the practical application of MANTRA and to support translation to clinical practice.
Learning Outcomes:
- Application of a highly strategic therapy stance and motivational interviewing style
- Understanding of MANTRA formulation and treatment planning
- Understanding the role of supports, and strategies for engaging supports in recovery
- Strategies to facilitate cognitive flexibility, emotional acceptance, and self-compassion
Audience
The training is exclusively for clinicians who are intending to provide MANTRA as a therapy and have capacity to deliver MANTRA within their current work setting. It is essential that eating disorder introductory training has already been completed before attending this training.
