Funded by the Mental Health Commission WA as part of the Western Australian Eating Disorders Framework 2025 to 2030, Butterfly is delivering coordinated prevention programs in WA. This will reduce risk, strengthen protective factors and build capability for effective education and early identification of body dissatisfaction and eating disorders across environments where young people live, learn and participate. Butterfly will offer programs for educators, youth professionals, sports coaches and parents, as well as a broader awareness initiative, BodyKind August, and two school-led programs: Butterfly Body Bright for primary schools, and BodyKind Online Education for secondary schools.

These services align with WA Eating Disorders Framework Focus Area 1, Action 1.3 to strengthen awareness across the WA community, including school and health professionals, of eating disorders, common signs and symptoms, the importance of early intervention, and the intersection with co-occurring needs such as neurodivergence.

As part of this funding, Butterfly is offering:

  • Free professional development for educators and those working with young people
  • Free workshops specific to sport settings, including for coaches, athletes and parents.
  • Subsidised school based prevention programs, including Butterfly Body Bright and BodyKind Online Education
  • Free community awareness initiative BodyKind August, including resources for families, schools and sport settings.
