Welcome to Eating Disorder Safe: Healthcare. This self-paced eLearning course introduces the core principles of Eating Disorder Safe (ED Safe) practice in healthcare. 

About the training

This training is structured around five key domains of the ED Safe Principles - Health, Food, Mind, Body, and Harm Minimisation - and applies all principles to healthcare environments and practice.  
 
This introductory training will support you to: 

  • Recognise the impact of weight stigma, diet culture, and mental health stigma in health settings
  • Apply neutral, non-stigmatising language in clinical communication about food, bodies, and weight 
  • Understand the bidirectional relationship between food, eating behaviours, and mental health 
  • Identify early signs of eating disorders in people of all sizes and backgrounds 
  • Support movement and nutrition interventions that are weight-neutral and developmentally appropriate 
  • Consider eating disorder risk when making health, education, or performance-related decisions 

Accessing the Training

Eating Disorder Safe: Healthcare is available for $15.00 AUD for all NEDC members.

How to access the training:

1. Log in or become a member of NEDC (membership with NEDC is free)

2. Once you are logged in, go to your personal dashboard on the NEDC website

3. On your personal dashboard, click 'Start Course' or 'Continue Course' to access the training

4. You will be directed to NEDC's learning management system, where you can purchase the course: Eating Disorder Safe: Healthcare

For an optimal learning experience, we recommend accessing the training from a desktop or laptop computer and using the browser Google Chrome.
