Early Detection of Eating Disorders in General Practice

Early Detection of Eating Disorders in General Practice

About this event

This presentation will discuss the benefits of early detection of eating disorders and the reasons for and consequences of delayed diagnosis. Less obvious presentations of eating disorders will be outlined. Speaker Dr Libby Rowe will then move on to a case presentation that deals more with assessment and management; this will involve questions throughout the study with audience participation and discussion.

Dr Libby Rowe ( MBBS, FRACGP) is a General Practitioner at Airlie Women's Clinic in Malvern, Victoria. She has a special interest in the management of weight issues and eating disorders. She has spoken on this topic at several seminars organised by Eating Disorders Victoria, and most recently at the 20th International Mental Health conference on the Gold Coast in August 2019. She has also presented to school groups and sporting clubs. In 2017, her article 'Early Detection of Eating disorders in General Practice' was published in the November edition of AFP. Her other medical interests include examining for the FRACGP exams, tutoring at their pre-exam workshops, tutoring International Medical Graduates and mentoring medical students.
