Ten-Session Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
Ten-Session Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
About this event
Professor Tracey Wade presents 11 hours of live in-person online training in CBT-T | Zoom
Ten-session cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT-T) for eating disorders is designed to reduce barriers to treatment, including cost, therapist expertise, and lengthy wait lists. With reduced Medicare sessions available to some clients in 2023, our training can provide clinicians with the necessary skills to effectively support clients with eating disorders in 10 sessions.
This two-day workshop will provide a thorough overview of how to deliver 10-session Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT-T) for non-underweight clients with eating disorders. The workshop involves a mix of didactic, video examples of techniques, small group exercises, role plays, and individual reflection exercises and cover the following topics:
- The evidence-based principles for delivering effective CBT;
- The evidence related to the effectiveness of 10-session CBT;
- An overview of CBT-T and how it differs from CBT-E;
- Key skills including use of early and rapid nutritional change, exposure, based on inhibitory learning principles, behavioural experiments, weighing, body-image work, relapse prevention;
- Effective supervision of CBT-T;
- Exploration of how attendees can implement CBT-T in their own clinical setting.
Learning outcomes:
- Participants will be able to summarise the evidence-based principles for delivering effective CBT
- Participants will have an in-depth understanding of how to effectively deliver CBT-T
- Participants will develop an awareness of their personal and institutional barriers to using shorter therapy for CBT-T and have evolved behavioural experiments to test beliefs around the conduct of this therapy
