The workshop will outline several innovations from cognitive behavioural therapy for eating disorders including both CBT-E and guided self-help approaches. Various techniques and strategies will be described in detail, using clinical examples, video demonstrations and experiential practice, in order that workshop participants gain not only an understanding of the techniques but the confidence to utilise them in their own practice.

·       Recent advances in neurobiological understandings of eating disorders

·       The Cognitive Behavioural Model

·       Collaborative case formulation

·       Regular eating and self-monitoring

·       Meal planning

·       Intervening in urges to binge/restrict

·       Problem solving

·       Eliminating dieting- dietary restraint, dietary rules and controlling eating

·       Changing the eating disorder mindset

·       Shape concern, shape checking and feeling fat

·       Events, moods and eating

·       Maintenance planning

·       Ending treatment
