About this event

​This evidence informed session increases understanding of body image and its role in wellbeing, disordered eating and eating disorders. The session focuses on the modifiable risk and protective factors that shape young people’s body image and provides comprehensive information and easy to use tools to support body image education, early identification and appropriate response.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
  • Explain how body image develops and why it matters for wellbeing and learning
  • Identify key risk and protective factors that influence body image and disordered eating
  • Apply evidence informed strategies to foster positive and inclusive environments
  • Recognise early warning signs that may indicate a young person is at risk
  • Respond to concerns appropriately.

Requirement

Training in diagnosis or treatment of eating disorders is not covered. 

Audience

Educators, youth workers & community professionals working with young people of all genders aged 8 to 18.
