Workshop: Body Image Reimagined - A Fresh Approach for Health Professionals (Melbourne)

About this event

Join me for a one-day training workshop that will leave you feeling confident and inspired when doing body image work.

You are working so hard to help your clients with body image issues and none of the traditional skills you have been taught shift their negative body image long term. Your client know it but they don’t feel better about their bodies on a deeper level. You are not alone.

Body Imagine Reimagined will introduce a fresh approach to understanding body image that can empower you to try new skills. You will learn innovative skills to help your clients overcome body image issues without having to learn a whole new treatment approach. The workshop will teach easy to learn skills and ideas that can be added to your existing practise.

You will be supported to:

  • Reconceptualize body image as a strategy or coping mechanism for underlying issues
  • Better understand and work with hesitation to change body image beyond motivational interviewing
  • Bridge the gap between knowing and feeling by exploring experiential, bottom up and body-based interventions to enhance body image work.
  • Use a trauma informed lens for body image work without having to learn complex neurobiological terms and a new treatment intervention.

After the workshop

How many times have you attended a workshop but not put the skills learnt into practice?

Join me for 2 live one hour group discussions to explore how you are going applying the skills learnt in your current practice. Ask questions about stuck points, whilst continuing to feel more and more confident using the ideas and skills.

The workshop is ideal for the following health professionals:

  • Clinicians working with people with eating disorders, at all stages of recovery
  • Clinicians working with people with body image concerns/frequently dieters.
  • Clinicians with a basic understanding of eating disorders (ED basics will not be covered)
  • Clinicians looking for new and fresh ideas to addressing body image concerns that are experiential in nature and trauma informed
