About this event

Join us for an hour of education in understanding what psychosocial support looks like for people with eating disorders and how to support the ongoing recovery through psychoeducation and supportive activities. This session is suitable for anyone in a health or community services role including peer workers, psychosocial support workers, aboriginal health workers, allied health staff, headspace staff, practice nurses, GP’s and counsellors and psychologists in private practice.

In this session we will cover:

  • What is recovery?
  • Providing eating disorder psychoeducation
  • What is peer support
  • Recovery oriented activities (e.g. meal planning, meal support, food challenges)
  • Holding space for food and body stories
  • Support for families/carers
  • Supporting engagement in life outside the eating disorder
  • Motivation and harm reduction
