Therapist draft, treatment fidelity and metacompetencies in evidence-based practice
Therapist draft, treatment fidelity and metacompetencies in evidence-based practice
La Trobe University
About this event
As part of La Trobe University’s International Fellowship Program, internationally renowned clinical psychologist Professor Glenn Waller will deliver a free, full-day workshop for qualified mental health clinicians.
Even when clinicians intend to deliver evidence-based treatment, understandable factors such as therapist anxiety, perceived client complexity and service pressures can lead treatment to drift from effective principles. Professor Waller will explore how clinicians can recognise and prevent therapist drift, maintain treatment fidelity and adapt evidence-based approaches appropriately. The workshop will provide practical strategies to strengthen clinical decision-making, metacompetencies and supervision.
Informed by Professor Waller’s internationally recognised work in eating disorders and cognitive-behavioural therapy, the workshop’s principles are applicable across mental health conditions, therapeutic approaches and mental health clinicians. This workshop is part of Professor Waller’s La Trobe International Fellowship, which promotes global collaboration, research translation and mental health workforce development.
