Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) for Eating Disorders

Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) for Eating Disorders

ANZAED

About this event

This workshop provides an overview of Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) for eating disorders (EDs), focusing on common interpersonal problem areas and practical treatment strategies. Recent research shows that interpersonal relationships act as both barriers to and facilitators of recovery, especially for East and Southeast Asian individuals. Despite this, most existing adult ED interventions fail to address these relational difficulties adequately. Evidence indicates that IPT is just as effective as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for treating eating disorders, while offering the added benefit of improving overall interpersonal functioning.
