Educator Training Pathway

Free training to teach eating disorder identification

Free and open to all tertiary and vocational educators. No prior experience in eating disorders is required.

The Educator Training Pathway (ETP) is free training that prepares tertiary and vocational educators to deliver the Identification Learning Packages safely and confidently, through a facilitated live route or a self-guided route. You don’t need any background knowledge or experience in eating disorders. The Pathway gives you the foundations, safety guidance and resources you need to teach the Learning Packages, including access to all four Identification Learning Packages, NEDC’s ready-to-teach resources for your students.

 The Educator Training Pathway establishes essential foundations for teaching, including core eating disorder principles, identification concepts, scope of practice considerations, and guidance on tailoring materials. It includes training and resources which are required to deliver the Identification Learning Packages.

It includes:

·       Two free NEDC eLearning modules for educators: (35 minutes in total)

·       Online Educator Training Workshop (90-minutes live, or a 45-minute version for the self-guided route)

·       Guidance to complete your Eating Disorder Safe Teaching Plan, using the Eating Disorder Safe Teaching Resources

The Educator Training Pathway and the Learning Packages: what’s the difference?

The Educator Training Pathway is for you, the educator. It covers core eating disorder principles, identification concepts, scope of practice and how to tailor materials safely. The Identification Learning Packages are what you use to teach your students. Completing the Educator Training Pathway is how you access the Learning Packages.

What you receive

Free access to all four Identification Learning Packages, including lecture slides, an Educator Booklet, vignettes, Student Resource Packs, interactive learning templates, and de-identified evaluation data from your sessions on request.

Experienced Eating Disorder Educators

Experienced eating disorder educators who meet the minimum training and safety standards can access the Identification Learning Packages through one of two educator training pathways.

1. Self-guided pathway

The self‑guided Educator Training Pathway gives experienced eating disorder educators immediate access to the Identification Learning Packages.

It supports self‑directed learning by outlining the relevant learning and resource components of the Educator Training Pathway, which educators can use to prepare for delivery.

Educators agree to engage in adequate additional learning as outlined in the ETP self-guided learning overview and to develop an Eating Disorder Safe Teaching Plan.

2. Facilitated live pathway

The facilitated live training pathway provides more structured support and live workshop facilitation.

It requires eLearning completion, live workshop participation, eating disorder safe teaching plan development and survey completion for accessing the Identification Learning Packages.
