Eating Disorders, Biology, and Body Image: Finding Common Ground without Blame

Eating Disorders, Biology, and Body Image: Finding Common Ground without Blame

About this event

The conceptualization of eating disorders as being "brain-based" offers many benefits, not the least of which is dismantling the longstanding yet inappropriate tendency to blame parents for their children's eating disorders. Yet this same conceptualization can make it tricky to reconcile the significant evidence that body image concerns may serve as a non-specific risk factor for the development of some eating disorders. The aim of this talk is to provide loved ones with ideas and information to help them navigate the dialectic posed by this "brain-based" versus "body-image influenced" conundrum.

The Zoom webinar will be recorded and available for download shortly after its conclusion.

Note: This US-based webinar will take place on 18 January, 10am EST, which is 19 January, 2am in Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT).
