Day Training (split over two half days) - FBT-ARFID - Online Workshop Presented by James Lock

Date: Tuesday 3 June and Wednesday 4 June:

Time: 11:00 AM - 2:30 PM Australian Eastern Standard Time

Where: This workshop will be held online

The training consists of

1) brief background about the unique clinical challenges of young people and their families with ARFID and its subtypes (sensory sensitivity, low-appetite, and fear of adverse consequences);

2) a summary of current research for treatments for children and adolescents with AFRID;

3) an overview of FBT-ARFID describing how the main principles of FBT are applied for this disorder (including developmental and co-morbidity challenges); and

4) case discussion of clinical cases of ARFID illustrating how FBT is implemented across the age and clinical subtypes.

The training is designed to facilitate interaction, engagement, and participation by those who attend. The training is based on Family-based Treatment for Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder by the workshop trainer and published by Routledge in 2021.   

Presenter:

James Lock, MD, PhD is the Erick Rothenberg, MD Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics as Stanford University, Senior Associate Chair, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, and Director, Eating Disorder Program, Stanford Children's Hospital. He is the author of more than 300 publications including seminal training manuals for Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, and Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder for children, adolescents, and young adults. He is the recipient of many awards, including for Research from the International Academy of Eating Disorders, the Price Foundation, the American Psychiatric Association, and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He has conducted lectures and trainings in the field of eating disorders for over two decades at locations around the world.
