Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Binge Eating Disorder (CBT-BED)

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Binge Eating Disorder (CBT-BED)

About this event

This multidisciplinary workshop explores the evolving treatment landscape for Binge Eating Disorder (BED), highlighting the limitations of traditional CBT-E approaches and introducing the newly released CBT-BED treatment manual. With a focus on the distinct features of BED and its complex relationship with clinical obesity, this course provides clinicians with practical, evidence-based strategies tailored for clients with higher weight, including those presenting with medical comorbidities. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the differences between BED and other eating disorders, the limitations of BMI in treatment planning, and how to navigate client-centred approaches to weight, including Health At Every Size (HAES), GLP-1s, bariatric surgery, and behavioural interventions. Mental health clinicians will also have the opportunity to role-play specific interventions from the CBT-BED model to enhance implementation in clinical practice.
