Eating Disorders and Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery
Eating Disorders and Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery
About this event
Many people undergoing or considering Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery also experience disordered eating, raising questions about assessment, post-surgery eating behaviours, and treatment adaptations. This workshop provides an introduction to Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, covering different surgery types, weight loss mechanisms, and their impact on eating disorders. Participants will explore diagnosis and treatment adaptations, including cognitive behavioural therapy, while examining the evidence base for managing disordered eating in this context.
The workshop assumes clinicians have prior training in eating disorder treatment and provides practical guidance for working effectively with this population.
