Eating Disorders in the Perinatal Period - Foundations for Health Professionals
Eating Disorders in the Perinatal Period - Foundations for Health Professionals
Perinatal Professionals Hub
About this event
This practical half-day online live workshop equips health professionals with the knowledge and confidence to recognise and respond to eating disorders across the perinatal period. Eating disorders may emerge, recur, or intensify during fertility treatment, pregnancy, the postpartum period, and early parenthood, yet they are frequently under-recognised and can have significant consequences for both parent and infant. Many clinicians report feeling uncertain about how to identify eating disorder symptoms, initiate sensitive conversations, and determine when further assessment or referral is needed.\r\n\r\nDesigned for GPs, obstetric providers, midwives, child health nurses, dietitians, psychologists and other allied health professionals, this evidence-informed workshop provides a practical overview of perinatal eating disorders. Participants will strengthen their understanding of prevalence, risk factors, screening approaches, medical and psychological impacts, and multidisciplinary referral pathways, while developing confidence in having compassionate, non-judgemental, weight-inclusive conversations with clients.\r\n\r\nBy the end of the session, participants will feel more equipped to recognise early warning signs, ask the right questions, identify when additional support is needed, and facilitate timely referral to appropriate services, helping improve outcomes for parents, infants, and families.\r\n\r\nFor more information or to attend this course, please follow this link: https://www.perinatalprofessionalshub.com/training/1d2c37f1-46a2-4b77-9482-bcb067bdf637
