Trauma Informed Care

Trauma Informed Care

About this event

Workshop overview: This online workshop is open to anyone working in an environment where those who have experienced trauma may seek care/support, and will be useful for both mental health and non-mental health trained clinicians. It will introduce the key concepts of trauma and the differences between TIC and trauma treatment, as well as support attendees to understand the impact of trauma from a multitude of perspectives. It will introduce the principles of TIC, presenting ideas around how we can start to reconsider our environments to ensure they are trauma informed; and to recalibrate our responses to what we might consider “challenging” client behaviour, from a trauma informed lens. Case examples will be provided with opportunity for small group discussion.

Learning objectives:

  • Distinguish between TIC and trauma treatment;
  • Recognise the impacts of trauma;
  • Identify key principles of TIC care, illustrated by case examples;
  •  Start to consider changes to their practice and environments towards becoming trauma informed.

 This workshop will be held online via zoom.
